Ascent Trip Report

The final summit in my August 2009 North Cascades trip. After summiting the Twin Sisters, this outing felt more like a long hike. Trail up to Pierce Lake (significant elevation gain, 1000+ m), followed by primitive trail to the second lake, and then a short (45 minutes) scramble via the east ridge to the summit. No technical difficulties, this is a trip anyone in good cardio shape can tackle. Stayed on the summit for a good hour, enjoying the fantastic views drifting clouds and glimpses of Slesse Mountain, American Border Peak and Mt. Shuksan. Overnight camping at the upper lake and descent down to Chilliwack river valley the following day. Best done as an over-nighter.
