Ascent Trip Report

Ascended Lafayette in the morning, got much colder as we went up. Near the summit there was lots of ice forming from the mist blowing up the mountain and freezing. The summit signs were completely covered in ice.

Us on the summit of Lafayette

Looking down from Truman

View towards Little Haystack

We intended to do the loop with the falling waters trail, but the sign was so iced over that we missed the trailhead and ended up summiting Mt Liberty to the south. We took the Liberty Spring trail down to the trailhead and hitch-hiked back to the car. All in all it ended up around 13 miles instead of 9.
