Ascent Trip Report

Latest IGN mapping gives a height of 416 metres. This is 3 metres higher than Signal d'Ecouves and therefore this is the highest point in north-west France.

A very fine concrete and steel viewing tower with splendid views, panorama boards and 24 hour access. A trivial walk only a few metres from the (free) car park.

The Belvédère des Avaloirs. Atop the highest hill in north-west France, the region of Pays de la Loire, and the Department of Mayenne, not surprisingly it gives great 360 degree views over the surrounding wooded countryside (2009-08-17). Photo by Peter Stone.
