|Date:||Monday, August 17, 2009|
|Ascent Type:||Successful Summit Attained|
|Peak:||Mont des Avaloirs|
| Elevation:||416 m / 1368 ft|
Ascent Trip ReportLatest IGN mapping gives a height of 416 metres. This is 3 metres higher than Signal d'Ecouves and therefore this is the highest point in north-west France. A very fine concrete and steel viewing tower with panorama boards and 24 hour access with splendid views. A trivial walk only a few metres from the car park.
The Belvédère des Avaloirs. Atop the highest hill in north-west France, the region of Pays de la Loire, and the Department of Mayenne, not surprisingly it gives great 360 degree views over the surrounding wooded countryside (2009-08-17). Photo by Peter Stone.
