Ascent Trip Report

While Jax and I were out in the area grabbing Stillwater, we wanted to get Bald done in the winter as well. By the time we got to the TH at 1:45 in the afternoon, the temperature was 47 according to my truck thermometer and sun was out in full force. Lots of people on the trail, which is easy to see why with it being easy to find and easy to hike. Because of it's popularity though, it also brings people who lack trail etiquette. In the roughly 40 people I saw in the 1h I was on the trail, I was one of the only people wearing snowshoes. Postholes everywhere! That I can at least understand because if you're not an avid hiker, you likely won't know why that's a sore spot for some. What I can't get over though is the trash that I picked up on the 15 min. hike back down from the summit, including an empty beer can that hadn't been there when I had just come through.

I think the hike itself is great and would love to do it again, but I think next time I'll shoot for a sunrise hike and finally go up in the tower. It's the second time I've climbed this little peak and both times the summit and tower have just been way too busy to enjoy.
