Ascent Trip Report

This was a terrible ascent for me. I got off my plane from Toronto at 9am Vancouver-time and went straight to Grouse Mountain without having eaten almost anything yet that day. By the time I was at halfway, I just had no energy. The Grind is unrelenting and gets steeper with tougher footing as you go. I haven't yet done a climb with a slope anywhere near the almost-constant 56% slope of this trail. My camera also ran out of batteries at about the one-quarter point on the trail which was probably okay because there were no views at the top due to the low cloud cover. At least I have an easy-to-beat baseline for the next time and plenty of reason to return! Even on a cool, misty day like this, I would guess that there were a few hundred people on the trail during the time I was climbing.
