Ascent Trip Report

Reeds Mountain's access caused me a lot of trouble. I was uncomfortable driving through a stone entrance that suggested it protected a gated community, so instead, I located a parking lot to the NW that looked like I could hike to the summit from there. Little did I know I would end up reaching the same community I thought I was going to be able to avoid. I figured I would be less conspicuous driving through this area instead of walking, so I hiked back to my car and drove. At the end of the main road was a steep driveway behind a push button operated open gate. There were no posted signs, however, so I took a chance and drove up the drive to a nice home on the summit of Andy Mountain. The highest point appeared to be in the front of the house and a stone fountain had been built on that spot. I tried to find an entrance to the house to explain my reason for being there, but it was impossible to reach any doors without walking through some private areas, so I just grabbed a quick victory photo and hurried away and drove out of the community. I have no idea if the resident on the top of Andy Mountain would be friendly to future visitors. Good luck if you follow me.
