Ascent Trip Report

Ouch! This is a tough hike no matter what, but add on to that I developed leg cramps on the ascent that did not go away, and you have torture unlike any other I have endured. On the plus side, since my last visit (when I failed), someone appears to have added additional cairns making routefinding (slightly) easier. Speaking of routes, two things come to mind:
1. We found on the final ridge, going up to the south of peak 6220+' works best
2. Atop the final ridge (about 6450'), there are many rock outcroppings- the trail is below and north of the ridge

One thing I should have mentioned in my earlier report (and still holds) is that one should wear heavier footwear and possibly gaiters as there are some nasty plants (Agave schottii?) which are intent on stabbing feet and ankles. Prepare (mentally and physically) to lose blood on this hike!

Note: The dog noted in past trip reports was not present.
