Ascent Trip Report

As we put up a tent on the upper lot at Maroon Creek a fellow, Doug Richards, asked to join our party and offered us his 4 man tent.
In the morning we got a 6:30 am start. We wound up bushwhacking from the Maroon Trail to the Pyramid Amphitheater. We discovered at this point that the heel was coming off my boot. I bound that up with the cord from my compass (and subsequently lost the little screw driver). We then found our way to the N.E. ridge and on to the summit, in a little over 5 hours. Quite a winding route. The summit of Pyramid, 14018 ft., is quite interesting, about 8 ft. wide and 100 ft. long. I wandered over its entire length. It would have been interesting to do the traverse over to Thunder. We found the right trail going down. That took 4 hours.
