Ascent Trip Report

Parked at Otter Hole Trailhead. Followed the trail directions of the NY/NJ Trail Conference's "Buck Mountain Loop from Otter Hole" hike, except I added a side trip to the summit of Assiniwikam Mountain via the pink trail at the point where that trail meets the yellow blazed Wyanokie Crest trail and the red blazed Wyanokie Circular trail.

Really great hike...very scenic throughout. Even though there were no summit views on Buck, there were a couple of nice viewpoints on the way up (although the second one was marred by the dismaying sight of a cell tower protruding upward further down the ridge). The side trip to the scenic and rocky ledges of Assiniwikam's summit was definitely worthwhile.

The entire hike, with breaks, took me about 3 hours.
