Ascent Trip Report

We parked at a small parking area at a hairpin turn along Sunshine Canyon Rd ( elev. 6088 feet ). We walked the Lion's Lair Spur for about 0.25 miles to reach the main Lion's Lair Trail which took us to the summit of Mt. Sanitas. The trail is very nicely graded and footing is excellent. Hiking boots not required. We were passed by several runners on the trail. As we ascended there were nice views of Mt. Arapahoe. There would usually be great views of Boulder and Denver from the summit of Mt. Sanitas but today there was a lot of haze in that direction. We saw deer both on the way up and again on the way down.
