Ascent Trip Report

I took the use trail from a hundred yards or so down the bike trail from Reservoir Road, which goes straight up the grassy slope and which I called the East Side Use Trail, up into the forest where it continues up steeply a short distance further to meet the east side trail (which starts close to the Midge Cramer bike path coming from the fairgrounds). This is the shortest route up to the top from any trail head, because it starts close and doesn't have switchbacks.

On another note, this is an excellent time to gobble down blackberries, many of which are so ripe they fall off when touched. The Thimble Berries came in a month ago and are already shedding their leaves. Very near the top, the blackberries are drying up, only a few of the wild plums are left, and the apples are getting ripe enough to eat.
