Ascent Trip Report

4-day trip in the park. Started at North Park gate, got rained out from our Travelers Traverse, but stayed at Pogy Pond, Davis Pond, and then Pogy Pond again. Climb from Russell Pond to Davis Pond was a bear, and the climb up and out to the NW Plateau was not much easier. Great views all throughout the northern peaks on Katahdin, though. It's a 2-mi unexposed ridge from Hamlin down the Howe Peaks, and the trail back down over Howe Peaks is re-opened, is lush and easy for the region, and is a great time overall.

There's a beaver pond between Pogy Pond and S Branch Pond that has flooded out the trail so bring spare boots or something
