Ascent Trip Report

This is a good leg-stretcher if you're traveling the Maine coast on Hwy 1. Located in Camden Hills State Park, just north of Camden, with easy access from Hwy 1. Current fees $6 per adult, $2 for over 65yrs. TH is a short distance from the Park entrance gate on Mount Battie Road. Best coast and island views looking SW are from Ocean Lookout on the way to the summit. No views from the summit, which has a big sign in a pile of rocks so you know when you're there. It's a very popular hiker-only trail for families, the young through old, the prepared and unprepared, and of course dogs. Most people only go as far as Ocean Lookout. Various options for shuttle hikes to other Park access points. The 35 car parking lot fills up by mid-day.
