Ascent Trip Report

Per Jonathan de Ferranti's BG250B.txt file this peak is 1399 meters high, with 846 meters prominence and 553 meter key saddle. A dirt road climbs high up the south side of the peak from Drimea. We drove high clearance up this road, which is cut into limestone, a bit slow and bumpy, but with a gentle grade. An auto carefully driven might reach our TH, though mud could be a problem the last 3 km. There are possible bush camps along this final part of the drive. Our TH was about 38.7364N, 22.5396E, where Pocket Earth shows a trail climbing up 100 m. elevation to the top. This trail is well marked, but not constructed, maintained, or used much. It is easy to find the way up with or without a trail - down is trickier.

A trig pillar is at the scenic top, with a nice view south. No higher bumps were seen with our sight level, though trees blocked some views. GPS on the trig read 1418 m. and 4 m. accuracy. This is higher than the Russian map value of 1399 meters, but close to the 1419 Pocket Earth value.
