Ascent Trip Report

Jonathan de Ferranti's BG250B.txt file calls this Megala Tourla, with 1935 m. elevation and 1111 m. prominence. We bush camped in a meadow near a locked chapel at 37.2871,22.6065. Sheep and goat ranchers were also in the general area, but there was plenty of room for everyone. This point is roughly 1 km. north of summit, and 300 m. lower. In the morning we walked the north ridge to the top and back. There are red dots along this route, and a use trail in places. A fallen over square trig pillar is at the top, where we enjoyed fine views on a clear day.

We drove up in a high clearance vehicle, coming in from the west. First you drive to a junction at 37.3005,22.6028, then you head south and climb to the meadow. High clearance is useful in several spots. The road as far as the junction had a lot of bee hives placed along it, and the bee keepers were driving this section.
