Ascent Trip Report

The weather worried me at first because there was thick fog while driving to the trailhead. The clouds were low though and I climbed above them. Sunny, hot day, lots of people. Muddy trail in the trees from the thunderstorm the night before. Relentless, constant grade all the way to the hut. Trail was rocky, but not too difficult until the last 0.9 miles from the Madison Springs Hut to the summit, which was above treeline. This consisted of strenuous bouldering in windy conditions. There were many cairns, but it was mostly a free-for-all to try to find the path of least resistance. Stopped at the Madison Springs Hut on the way up and way down for a blueberry coffee cake. The way down was never-ending.
