Ascent Trip Report

Our experience climbing this peak was better than Jobe Wymore described. We drove in on a Monday to where Steve Sheriff's track starts and found a group of tribal members camping there by the junction. We got ready to do the hike, but couldn't find any evidence of a trail or way through the brush. A tribal elder asked us what we were hunting for and he said the easiest way up the mountain was on the east side. He described how to find the trail and didn't say the peak was off limits. He did suggest we buy a recreation permit. After some muddy driving the route worked well and I describe it on my website:
