Ascent Trip Report

We hiked south (a group of three AMC Mohawk-Hudson Chapter members, Jean, John & Ellen scouting a later summer's scheduled hike) along the Appalachian Trail looking for the vista looking back to Mt Greylock marked on the state reservation map without luck (was later told at the Visitor Center that this not so obvious vista does exist quite alongside trail and not so distant from Rockwell Rd), backtracking the trail we lunched atop Mt Greylock (the War Memorial with fenced off-limits under renovations) afterward reaching a fine viewpoint at Robinson's Point and another along the Overlook Trail before returning to our trail head start, discovery of the Mt Greylock vista will make this a quite enjoyable loop outing with Robinson's Point Trail requiring a taking care along its steep descent.
