Took advantage of the cool day in the 60's with a light breeze and high thick clouds to hike a normally very hot area. Parked at the horse camp and headed up the dirt road trail. Went off the main trail 3 times on single tracks created by horses for variety, any trails going up will get you there. Found the turnoff for Peak 2413 and went up, finding a Dept of Water Resources benchmark from 1966 stamped DOE 7912. Excellent views of Moreno Valley to the North. Continued on to Terri Peak, finding White Sage in full bloom along the way. Great views of the lake and peaks to the North. Then followed the trail, now single track, that leads down to the museum. Went off trail as I neared Armada BM, descending first, crossing a dry creek, and then steeply climbing up to the BM area. Found just the shank from the Station mark in a large white X. Did a good search and found both Reference Marks No.1 and No.2 in great shape from 1928. Then I laid down flat on my back on the nice slabs for a good back stretch/rest. Heading back I went down a slightly easier slope, down and then up again to reconnect with the trail. After reaching the museum which was closed, I just b-lined it x-c over to the horse trail that runs parallel to the road all the way back to the horse camp. So my feet only touched pavement 4 times while crossing the street. Great hike!
