Ascent Trip Report

From US-30 in the southern fringes of St Helens OR, I turned W on Sykes Rd. After 3 miles I went L at a fork, following a sign to Vernonia, onto Cater Rd. After 4½ more miles, I turned R at a T-intersection, still headed towards Vernonia, onto Scappoose-Vernonia Rd. After another 5.3 miles, I turned N onto an unpaved logging road at (45.8396N, 123.0406W). Zero your odometer here.

At 0.7 miles, I went R at a fork where the L branch was gated. At 1.1 miles, I went R at a fork where an unlabeled brown arrow points L. At 1.5 miles, I went L uphill at a fork in a clear cut where the R branch went through an open yellow gate. At 1.6 miles I went R at a T-intersection. At 1.8 miles I stayed straight where a side road goes R. At 2.1 miles I parked where the road topped out in a clear cut.

I hiked S across logging chaff for about 3 minutes to the summit. The highest ground is the mound around the base of a stump.
