Ascent Trip Report

ascent: lower camp at desolation shelter
zeacliff trail

a partly cloudy day turned into overcast by early afternoon
by zealand mtn we were concerned and decided to strike for guyot shelter and not galehead hut

as we reached the summit of mt guyot... thunderstorms with strong winds and lightening pushed us quickly to the guyot campsite --- 1.90

arrival at the lean-too shelter found us wet, worn-out and in the early and beginning stages of hypothermia... my shaking was uncontrollable... another hiker was already there with a fire started - which he openly shared and helped make us make tea - soon dinner followed. was very good to be in a dry shelter.

sunrise the next morning was spectacular... a slim slice of intense brilliant light slivered between the dark blue colored mountain peaks of mtn field, willey, nancy, carrigain and the high dark clouds...
something I've never forgotten.
