Ascent Trip Report

Little Haystack was the third of the five peaks I traversed today on the rewarding 5-mile stretch of the Franconia Ridge Tr above treeline between Mt. Lafayette and Mt. Flume. First came Mt. Lafayette (10:15AM) via the Greenleaf Tr and Greenleaf Hut. From Mt. Lafayette I headed south 1.5 miles over Mt. Lincoln to Little Haystack, then 3.2 miles farther over Mt. Liberty to Mt. Flume (1:15PM). I took the Flume Slide Tr, a steep and slippery scramble in places, 3.7 miles down to its TH near The Flume. I soon hitched a ride back up to my car at the Greenleaf Tr TH.
