Ascent Trip Report

We drove in to Lone Cone from the east, on FS534, passing by Groundhog Mt, enroute. The road was good, but turned high clearance the last couple miles to saddle 10705 on Blue Ridge. The next mile was rough 4wd to a bush camp at 11100', 37.8876,-108.2682. From here the hike is a straight forward talus slog to the top.

After the hike we attempted to reach road 526 about 5 miles west of Lone Cone. We ran into a bermed and fenced road closure at 37.8934,-108.2965.
This is the boundary of San Juan National Forest and private property.
The FS topo shows a couple other roads crossing this boundary in the 2 miles south of where we found a closure. I expect (see the air pics) these roads are also closed. We backtracked to FS 615 at 37.8540,-108.2292 and made our escape to the north. The first 3 miles of 615 were a pretty rough high clearance/4wd road.
