Ascent Trip Report

I just HAD to do something a little different than Ben L. and Ian F. before me, so I parked my car at the intersection of Route 895, and hiked the road up from there. A "grueling" 8 minutes later (wink, wink), I was standing at this HP !

It was a nice, but unremarkable view from the "summit". In fact, looking south and east from there, you'll see other hillsides which are higher, but they're in Kings and Albert Counties.

The wide, dirt road to the HP is in good condition for even a small car to drive up. But, the road does not appear in the current version of Google Earth's imagery (2003), even though an adjacent layer is dated 2014. What you see in Google Earth at the present time is a woods road that goes east, then quickly cuts north. While that road is there, the road to the HP actually continues straight northeast from Rte 895 for about 700 m, then curves east for a short distance until you arrive at the 4-way intersection in the clear-cut area.
