Ascent Trip Report

Parked at Devil's Tombstone campground on NY 214. It's unclear whether or not there's a fee to park here during the summer months but I didn't pay it and nothing happened. Took the red-blazed "Devil's Path" trail up, appropriately named... the first mile or so is STEEP. At a couple spots you're climbing small cliffs on this route. Levels out after about 1-1.5 miles and then you're actually walking on what seems like a perfectly level section along a random elevation contour until the intersection with a yellow-blazed trail, which still seems pretty flat but must climb very gradually to the summit. Not much to see at the summit itself but the fire tower has some cool views. Met a bunch of people camping up there who were apparently able to sneak into Mountain Jam (music festival at the ski resort, for people reading this who aren't from the area) last night the back way from the top of the mountain hahaha. Took the blue-blazed trail down... kinda steepish at the top, became a pretty gradual descent after about half mile, and came out in a different spot on Rt. 214 maybe 1.5 miles north of the campground. Walked the road back.
