Ascent Trip ReportIronically this was my first peak (well maybe second or third in my life). I mean, christ I didn't even know what a posthole was back then. I met a few guys from the Cle Elum ranger district trail crew at The Brick in Roslyn. We all went cragging at Tieton the following week. They were talking about going up Rainier and I asked if I could go along. They asked "you've got glacier experience, right?". I replied no. "Well, you've been on snow haven't you?". Of course I thought, it snows in Boston every winter.
The following week. I was part of a group that had no business being on that mountain. We made it up and down the Emmons Glacier without incident, but oh it could have been ugly.
