Ascent Trip Report

What a great little peak. Over the years I've probably climbed Guye about 15 times. In the winter the south gully is multiple pitch of easy snow and ice with trees every hundred feet for belays and a "real" experience ridge on top to get over the top to walk off. The south ridge is a good anytime of year 3rd class scramble. There are also two gullies on the east side which are worthwhile winter ascents. The standard trail up from the Alpenthal lot is steep in places so bring an ice ax. I've done the "improbable Traverse" once just becasue it sounded so ominous. It was all right but not worth the hype.

Get to know the mountain for a place to go for quick exercise. One can easily summit and be back in Seattle by noon.
