Ascent Trip Report

Glenridding - Catstye Cam - Swirral Edge - Helvellyn - Helvellyn Lower Man - White Side - Raise - Sticks Pass - Sheffield Pike - Glenridding Dodd - Glenridding.

A beautiful day with predominantly blue sky, cool with a light wind, but rather hazy with poorer views than one usually expects in winter. Snow level about 700 metres but on Swirral Edge itself the crest of the ridge line was safe dry rock, but without ice axe/crampons it still needed care for the final 10-15 metres of convex snow slope up onto the plateau (but even this had clear steps cut in it). Approximately 17 km / 10.5 miles.
