Ascent Trip Report

I pulled up to the house that is closest to the western hp candidate. The place is now very much occupied and the owner has been there since 2011. I explained the purpose of my visit, and he was surprised to hear that his yard was the highest point in Crawford County. He gave me permission to walk through his backyard, and also through the back of his property and into the adjoining field, which is being farmed by a different owner. When I asked about access for future high pointers, he requested that people NOT visit the spot in his yard. He has two big dogs and two young children, and he would like us to respect his privacy in the future. He seemed like a nice guy, but he just respectfully asked me to make note of this. If you do want to access this point, it might be worth the effort to do some research with the town and find out the owner's name and phone number, and call in advance - please don't just drive up as I did. He mentioned that there were private property signs posted, but I didn't notice them on my way in or out.

Anyway, the eastern hp area is still accessible from the same short road that leads to this person's house. Simply park before you get to the house and follow the field east along the property line to the high ground at about 270 yards. I felt this area might have been slightly higher and access doesn't look to be too sensitive.
