Ascent Trip Report

This county has 3 candidate high point areas, I numbered them in accordance with PB and visited them all.

We approached from the north. From the intersection of hwy #17/33 in Chocowinity (just south of Washington) we drove east on #33 for 21.6 miles to a right on #306, 11 miles south turned right onto #55, 4.5 miles west turned left onto Holland Drive, Reelsboro United Methodist Church on the corner, we parked in their lot.

AREA 1 is on the north side of hwy #55 at house #6287 (across the road from the church),
AREA 2 is in front of the church (between #55 and the church).
There is nothing obvious here, Area 2 even extends to house #6302 east of the church. I had a nice long chat with the 89 year old, Roy Brinson, at house #6287. The nice gentleman, who built this house in the fifties when #55 was a small 2 lane road, told me that there used to be a BM in front of his house just besides the road (he pointed to the present telephone pole 50 yards east of his mailbox). The widening of #55 in the nineties apparently removed the BM.
I walked the whole area on both sides of #55, and as far as I'm concerned, there is only one area here, with the natural HP being on the sides of the #55 ..... your choice.

AREA 3
From the church we drove south on Holland to a left on Linwood drive, then south to the t-junction and another left onto Hallis Creek Road followed by a right onto Chair Road, which we followed south to house #739 on the left.
We parked in the driveway of #739 and found no one home, went next door (north) where the lady cracked-open-the-door somewhat defensively. She wasn't aware of the high ground, gave me permission to walk around.
We then went to the next street over to the east, Florence Road, and checked out the houses behind #739 (house #170 to #258) and concluded that the HP is at #739. I should note that with all of the road/house construction natural ground is hard to find.

"PAMLICO COUNTY WAS FOUNDED IN 1872 AND NAMED FOR PAMLICO SOUND WHICH ADJOINS IT. PAMLICO WAS THE NAME OF AN INDIAN TRIBE IN EASTERN NORTH CAROLINA. AS OF THE 2010 CENSUS ITS POPULATION WAS 13,144 AND ITS COUNT SEAT BAYBORO."
