Ascent Trip Report

At the high point with the bench on it, my GPS indicated the coordinates of this peak, as found on Garmin Basecamp, were a bit further on down the ridge. I followed it to a power pole tagged "17A" where it dropped off sharply and my GPS read that was where I was supposed to be. Then again, the coordinates of this peak on Peakbagger seemed to be where the bench was. Others in my family stayed by the bench, so I don't know if they can say for sure they bagged this peak, though I doubt if they care.

In any case, it's a nice climb over many roots in the trail and some scratchy bushes close in on the trail when it opens up near the top. Near the bottom, near a picnic table, my son found some vines to swing on; one broke and he fell, but others held him for a good swing across a muddy area. There were only a few slippery places on the trail, but it'd been dry for a while. I'd expect lots of mud for a few days after a rain.

We parked in the street as this was the only option, but one of the residents glared at us the entire time we were packing up to go. However, another had nicely pointed us in the direction of the climb as we were driving around this subdivision to find where the hike started--it was well marked once we reached the intersection of Alani and Woodlawn. We saw about a dozen people on this climb, including several kids and one guy running to the top.
