Ascent Trip Report

Parked at the bottom of Mt. Lemmon Ski Valley with Shaina's car. Wanted to get a trail map, but didn't see one. We wanted to get some vertical gain so we walked up the road from the parking lot. We passed parts of a dismantled chairlift on a hairpin. It was amazing how different the peak is from the valley in terms of temperature and foliage. This was my first time to southern Arizona so I was very intrigued. We left the road at the correct curve and went straight up the bank. The ridge headed straight towards the benchmark PIMA. We kept the pace down due to Katrina's asthma, but made good time. We found the rock cairn with the register and signed in at the edge of the fence. Good views off to the NE. I made sure that a couple boulders and a small rock pile inside the fence were not limiting us from claiming this one. This was our first highpoint together! Back at the ski area the lodge was open and we got some stickers and fudge. No trail maps until a printing for this winter.
