Ascent Trip Report

Parked at the switchback at 4100'. All public land. Good roads, car accessible. Hiked old trail found on uphill side of switchback that is an old overgrown road. Followed this to log landing. Skirted this on the right side. Someone has hacked a route of sorts from here to the old cabin. Lost the way a bit on the way in but we were able to follow it on the way out. This part is brushy and has some downed logs. Brush is worst by the cabin. We high tailed it to the forest. Just following the path of least brush resistance up the hillside. Moderately steep here. We met a minor cliff at perhaps 4600' and made our way up a talus ramp to further forest. COntinued on with Ken veering more directly to the saddle while I angled left and back to lower the gradient and avoid brush. Unclear what sort of route-finding it would take to get there from the notch. We did a descending traverse left to gain the NW ridge at about 5520'. Annoying sidehill on steep to get there. The way up the ridge here looked doable but exposed and sketchy. Decided to traverse on the W side of the ridge for a bit. Followed a path up by some dead trees to easier terrain. Just walking from there to the summit. Maybe 20 feet of a bit of scramble, sort of awkward forest steep scramble. Summit has views. Overall not a fun peak IMO. Too much brush and not that much scrambling and lots of sidehilling and meh. #meh. But we got our peak. COntinued out the same way in a fairly uneventful descent.
