Ascent Trip Report

See my report on Cougar Peak. The ridge to the Matterhorn, viewed from Cougar Peak is an eye-opener. It actually seems to be in two sections, one jagged and formidable, and the other smooth walking. The 1.6 mile hike from peak to peak took me two hours. The summit is flat, about the size of a queen-size mattress, with sheer drops on east and south. The log is in a nice mail box, and I noted that the previous entry was a month earlier, and only a few groups had signed in this year.
