Ascent Trip Report

Started from Zapata falls campsite at0335 AM. Made Zapata lake at sunrise. Trail good, easy to follow with LED headlights. Took main drainage about 1/3 mi beyond lake. Looking to the south took the best looking collier to ridge line through boulder field, and up steep chute to ridge line. Route follows ridge line to east, then heads to south along kinefedge to summit. Arrived at summit at 0900. Thought about going for Blanca peak, but clouds were already building on little Bear, and strong updraft was evident. Decided to head back, was good decision as another party that pressed on ht rain and had a fall and an "adventure". Saw som big horn rams on the descent. Went with a strong crew, Glen, Donnie, Than, Andrea, Albert, and Isaac. Rain hit us after we got back to camp at 3 PM.
