Ascent Trip Report

I took the bike trail from the Bernardo Bay Natural Area parking area off West Bernardo Dr., West Bernardo Dr., Exit from I15, over the long bridge over a mostly dry riverbed. I next turned left and found the Mt Bernardo Summit Trail going off to the right after a creek crossing. Avoiding a few side trails, this led to the top. I came down the same way, except, on the advice of a mountain-bikee, trying a side trail down to an upstream creek crossing and then up to a dirt road running along the back yards in a housing complex, before turning right to find the main trail not far from the bridge. This avoided some up and downs. I could see the cross on Battle Mtn, which I'd bagged 3 days before. In between, the reason I was here, I'd watched my son play in a soccer tournament. He did well, scoring two of the teams four goals, one against the team that won the tournament. I don't know if I was bagging peaks between soccer play, or watching soccer between bagging peaks, besides taking my other kids around Los Angeles, but it's a life.
