Ascent Trip Report

Went up starting from the Climbers Bivouac after camping out nearby the prior night. Day as rather cool and foggy to start. Headed up the Loowut trail (I believe)starting out in unbelievable forrestry with massive trees (not quite redwood status) and crazy fauna that i have not seen before. After a while you started to see the effects of the eruption from way prior as teh forrestry turned to rock and skree further up the mounting. The last quarter mile was a pretty tiring trek through loose skree (ash) that basically made it a three steps forward, 1-steps worth of a slide back trip. View from the top was non existent unfortunately but non the less an amazing trip, and flying out there to do it made it my favorite so far. After a nice lunch and break atop the peak, we went back down alongth same path obviously, where the skree was excellent to go down (as i managed to basically slide my way down. The Monitor Ridge was much more painful down than up, strictly because of tiredness at this point, but once into the forrest section again, this hike was a cake walk out.

Overall I loved this hike, but it was a very intesnse hike over all i would say. A lot of elevation climbed, and the area above the forresty was all pretty challenging getting up as a moderate to average hiker.

The unmaintained trail marker i noted in here is just ot imply the skree field wchih had not much of a path rather than just the area people before you had kind of carved out.
