Ascent Trip Report

This summit is an easy two minute walk along a dirt road and a nice spot despite its comms mast and generator.

We visited it after Formosinho and São Gens, arriving from the latter after a nice rural drive of two hours or so.

Turning west off the main highway at its highpoint by a wind generator and mast, we drive a short way to the start of the dirt road and park. The short walk to the summit is very pleasant with a range of wild flowers including lavender, yellow lupin, gladiolus, cistus and a large broomrape.

The summit has two square trig pillars, one round and a 10m tall pillar. The summit area is fairly level: the western trig at N37.37068 W8.08040 (586m GPS) may be the highest point. As well as the comms mast and wind generator there is a lookout with a staircase which gives good views, also a more modern lookout of the same pattern seen on Sao Gens.

We see the grey bulk of Foia on the western horizon, and head over there next.

Jonathan de Ferranti has the Mú saddle as 174m at 37:22:56 -8:26:27 hence P403m.
