Ascent Trip Report

An easy x-country/bushwack eb from Cole hill Road .... .6 miles, 30 minutes RT.

From Irish Hill we found our way to the west side of the Cole Hill summit, at a dirt road entrance to an old quarry, off of Cole Hill Road (CR2). This was my TH .... it is .6 miles north to the junction CR3/CR2 or .5 miles south to the intersection CR2/Woodstock road (or approx 4.3 miles south to Hwy #85 in Snyders Corner).

I walked the dirt road 100 yards east to the old quarry, as I entered the quarry I took an immediate right and walked 50 yards south to an opening in the east-west fence line. This fence line is the north end of the large open wheat field to the south. I followed/climbed the fence line east, entered the woods, and in 100 yards I was on the wooded summit ridge (about 400 yards from Cole Hill Road).

I walked the north-south summit ridge (about 150 yards), open woods with a good cover of snow. fairly flat, nothing obvious. Finally choosing my spot towards the north end of the ridge at GPS 42.58985,-74.08790. A stone wall is 15 yards to the north, no views.

I backtracked to the TH and continued/found-our-way northeast to Helderberg Mountain for our 6th and final summit of the day.
