Ascent Trip Report

A xcountry eb climb/bushwack nb from Irish Hill Road ..... .8 miles, 40 minutes RT.

From the intersection of #CR9/#443 just west of the village of Berne we traveled east into Berne. Where #443 makes a sharp-left-turn we picked/turned right onto Irish Hill Road (climbs steeply) and continued for 2.8 miles to a power line crossing the road. This was my TH, the power line swath seen to the left climbs to the high ground.

I followed/climbed the swath eastbound .25 miles to the top of the ridge ... a long fairly flat plateau (which is posted) with very open deciduous woods. I turned left (north) bushwacking on the ridge looking for the HP. Nothing obvious. I chose my spot about 200 yards north of the power line at GPS 42.60157,-74.10610.
I had only patches of snow on my climb to the top plateau. However the plateau was fully covered with snow.
There is nothing interesting about this summit, so my recommendations is "for Peakbaggers only".

I noted some red trail discs (on state land) on the east side of the plateau so I followed them south, picking up aqua blazes which I followed/descended (southwest) to Irish Hill Road 300 yards south of my TH. The aqua blazed trail (with State Land signs) crosses the road and continues west.
A good route to the summit, albeit twice the distance as my ascending route (perhaps .5 miles).

Our next destination was Cole Hill to the southeast, a short distance away.
