Ascent Trip Report ISOLATION #40
What a great day to hike w/ Nancy , Brian ,Mike & have Mike completed his 48.. Congrats Mike..Also I was able to get this monkey off my back as 1 yr ago I was hiking Isolation fell & tore my quad tendon....Couldn't hike for 6 months...Today I was able to walk by where I fell & make the summit
The day start with temps in the 30's..we hiked in T-shirts all days as temps were warm ..we started in microspikes & not long into our hike we changed to snowshoes as the snow was soft ...This surprised us as we thought the trail would be packed & hard for hike up...Also with all the traffic this trail saw last week we figured it be packed & no problem to follow.....Boy where we wrong....At times we had a hard time finding the trail & in spots made a new trail....Between the lack of blazes & blowing & new snow during the week we broke trail all the way up at times over our knees. Then we got to the bushwack where we were able to stay on the trail but it wasn't easy..When we hit Isolation tr that was easy to keep but we ended south of where Iso meets up with Davis Path....Davis Path we had 1 spot that we lost the trail then after that it was straight to Isolation
When we got on top we were in awe of the views...This was Mike Berger's48th peak & my 40th...We couldn't have picked a better day & peak to finish his 48's...On the summit the champagne & beer followed as we celebrated....We even shared with fellow hikers we meet on top...After about an hr on the top we headed back down much to our chagrin but it was good timing...On way down we look south & could see dark clouds & by the time we hit the Isolation Tr it was overcast & darkening...Trail down was basically mashed potatoes
At the bottom the celebration continued & then a long ride home ....Thank you Isolation for the views :-)
This hike was a 13.2 mile & 10 hr hike
