Ascent Trip Report

Started at the Trailhead parking at Rustler Park CG. Hiked the Crest trail to where it forks just below Chiricahua Peak, then followed Chiricahua Trail to the forested summit. Mostly clear day, great views to the north. Encountered a little ice on the trail below the cliffs near the start, and a few snow patches otherwise, but the trail was virtually snow-free. Unfortunately much of the forest along the trail has been burned. The Rustler Park CG is closed due to the Horseshoe 2 Fire of 2010, but work is underway to remove the burnt trees.
