Ascent Trip Report

After doing Brushy and Guthrie mountains earlier in the day, Dennis and I had a great lunch at Casa Manana's in Safford and then made our way out to Bob's Flat near Bryce Mountain. Scott Surgent's trip report for Bryce Mountain is an excellent resource and we used the directions provided to get to Bob's Flat. ( http://www.surgent.net/highpoints/az/range/bryce.html )We car camped just off the road about 200 yards from the corrals and got ready for the next day. We read Scott Surgent's trip report and decided that we would go up the drainage from Big Spring rather than do the traverse up to the ridge that he had utilized on his visit. We had noted that he felt the drainage via Big Spring might be a better route so that was the way we intended to go.

In the morning, we made our way up the road to that drainage near Big Spring and found that it added a couple of miles overall but it was worth it since the route up the drainage worked great. Once we hooked into the normal route, we found cairns and a good trail in many places which aided our efforts. Again, many thanks to Scott for providing a great trip report which was really helpful.
