Ascent Trip ReportWe followed the directions found on the summitpost page for the west approach to this one and if you will look at Scott Peavy's GPS track here at peakbagger, you will see the route we utilized to get to the summit of this one. We car camped at the same spot he started his hike but found that we could have driven another good half mile or so closer before stopping and heading up. It would require high clearance to do so but the road was in good shape just beyond the wash where we had car camped. As it was, the first mile we hiked was on the road before we started up the steepening slopes to obtain the ridgeline that would lead us to the summit. Great views and we signed in to the register we found on the summit. Not many folks had done it from the west since at one time an easier route existed that went through a rancher's property that worked well until the rancher changed his mind and stopped allowing access via his property. Still, we found the west approach very doable although steep and cactus booby trapped. 6 miles with almost 3000 feet of gain.
