Ascent Trip ReportI left Lehi early on the 14th and drove south via Toquerville, Kanab, Page, Flagstaff, Phoenix, Tucson, Benson and then finally the airport just south of Tombstone where I met up with Dennis. We car camped there for the night and I got a great nights sleep after such a long endurance drive. It was a 14 hour drive that allowed me to be in position to climb Fissure / Ballard the next day.
We parked at the pass and made our way up decent trails to the summit of Ballard Peak where we found a register but realized that we still had some work to do in order to check this one off as Fissure Peak was obviously higher. Dropping down off of Ballard, we made our way to a saddle and then up to the top of Fissure peak where we were able to enjoy some snacks and the pleasure of checking off another of Arizona's p2k prominence peaks. It adds a couple hundred feet of elevation gain and loss but that really isn't a problem. We made our way back down to the pass and then snagged a close p1k that was mostly a drive up.
We then made our way through Bisbee and after a stop for lunch and groceries in a nearby town, we made our way to the base of our next objective, Swisshelm Peak, which we approached from the west via the town of Elfrida.
