Ascent Trip ReportWe drove 9.4 miles in on a dirt road through Collins Valley to the Sheep Canyon campground. The road is pretty good to the 3rd stream crossing (high clearance vehicle recommended), then deteriorates and becomes really rugged for about 0.5 miles as the road goes up a gully (high clearance 4x recommended). Once out of the gully, the road is ok to the Sheep Canyon campground (high clearance vehicle recommended). The steam did not have much water in it this year, but I've heard stories of 2' high water occasionally in the stream.
The terrain up to the peaks is very rugged, and the route back to the truck down Sheep Canyon requires careful route finding to get around the numerous waterfalls, cliffs and debris. The GPS said that our route was about 6.4 miles and 4,340' of elevation gain.
