Ascent Trip Report

Unable to get a spot at the refuge, I decided to hike up and down in one day. I stayed the night at Hotel Uran, which had parking and was less than 100 yds to trail head. There is no parking at the trailhead. I was told by the ranger that I had to be at the refuge by 9am otherwise the ranger would not allow me to continue on to the summit. So I left the hotel at 3:30 am and made the refuge by 8:20am. I left the refuge by 9:30. In the end I could have passed the refuge with out anyone knowing. The ranger was moping the floors and was hard to find. The trip to the summit is another 5.1 km with less than 500 meters in elevation gain, but I was feeling the elevation a bit so it took me about 2 hours to the summit. It was sunny, clear and warm at the top. I then retraced my way and after a short rest at the refuge headed down and made trail head by 5:30PM. All and all it was the biggest single day in elevation gain and distance.
