Ascent Trip ReportWe started the hike up Cowles Mountain at 6:15 p.m. to avoid the hottest part of the day. I would recommend leaving even later to perhaps catch sunset while on top. We were up and back down in an hour and some change. Though this hike is the most crowed one I have so far experienced in San Diego the great views make well worth the effort. Even though it was quite hazy the peak still afforded excellent views of Lake Murray, Mission Valley, La Mesa/SDSU, Santee, Lakeside, and a sliver of the Pacific Ocean.
