|Others in Party:||Kelley Laxamana|
|Date:||Friday, January 3, 2014|
|Ascent Type:||Successful Summit Attained|
| Elevation:||4573 ft / 1393 m|
Ascent Trip ReportWe drove about 0.5 miles past the town of Ranchita, then turned right onto the signed and dirt Old Wilson Road, then turned left after 0.5 miles at an unsigned road , then turned quickly right at a T intersection, then followed the dirt road about 1.6 miles to the Wilson Benchmark Trailhead. The road is suitable for high clearance vehicles.
We followed the trail to a 4400' saddle, then made a detoured over to Pinyon Ridge and back to the Wilson Trail, then followed the trail to just north of the peak, then made our way over to the summit of Wilson Benchmark. Most of the area was burned in a recent fire, so cross country travel was very easy to both summits . Also, the summit rock of Pinyon Ridge are easy class 3, which are best climbed from the northeast side.
