Ascent of Blackstone Edge on 2014-01-02
|Date:||Thursday, January 2, 2014|
|Ascent Type:||Successful Summit Attained|
| Elevation:||472 m / 1549 ft|
Ascent Trip ReportThis hill is just north of the M62 on the Pennine Way, and thought to be the joint highest point in Rochdale Unitary Authority (equal with a slope feature on Hail Storm Hill). I parked at the point where the PW crosses the A672 and followed the easy path north. The true summit is 474 metres a.s.l., a prominent boulder with an OS benchmark and a cairn on it. The trig point and the rocky tor known as 'Robin Hood's Bed' are about 160 metres north-west and slightly lower.
